BECOMING A REFEREE
Requirement: Must be 13 years old. US Soccer will not register you unless you are at least 13. If you will be 13 prior to August 22, but after class begins, please contact joyce@cbsoccerclub.org.
Certification Class: The next in-person class is tentatively scheduled for August 2, 2025, 9:00-12:00. Cost is $62.50. Class will be held at the Iowa West Sports Plex, 3260 Mid America Drive. Watch for more information.
There are on-line courses to be completed prior to the in-person class. If you are 18 or older, there is also a background check.

NOTE: The next outdoor season in Council Bluffs is set to start August 22, 2025.
REFEREE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (RDP)
If you are not sure you want to certify OR if you are only 12, a Referee Development Program (RDP) class is tentatively set for August 16, 2025, 9:00-10:00, at the Sports Plex, 3260 Mid America Drive. This program is free and allows you to referee at the U7/U8 level. This gives you an opportunity to decide if refereeing is something you’d like to pursue. A t-shirt, whistle, and stopwatch are included with this program. To sign up for RDP, email Joyce at joyce@cbsoccerclub.org.
Must be 12 before you referee your first game.
