Becoming a referee

NOTE:  If you are interested in becoming a referee, please contact Joyce Bartels, 
Joyce will get you started on the requirements so you are ready for the Fall season.

Requirement: Must be 13 years old. US Soccer will not register you unless you are at least 13.

In-Person Class: This class will be held virtually and has not yet been scheduled.

The following steps must be completed.

Step 1: Create a Learning Center Profile. Your account profile contains your unique e-mail address, password, mailing address, phone number, etc. To create a profile, go to the US Soccer Learning Center and click on 'Sign Up'.

Step 2. When your profile has been set up, click on 'Courses'. Then, click on 'Go to Course List'. Find the In-Person class you would like to attend and click on 'Proceed to Registration'. Fill in the required fields and then 'Proceed to Payment' to provide your credit card information.

Step 3. Once your payment is processed, you'll enter the course Classroom. Click on the 'Assignments' tab. The course has 4 assignments and the assignments must be completed prior to attending the In-Person training.

• Online Grassroots Referee Course (4 hour module - go at your own pace)

• 2020 SafeSport Training (90 minute module required for ages 18 and older)

• 2020 Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments (30 minute presentation)

• 2020 Grassroots Referee Certification Quiz (25 questions)

Click on each assignment to begin. As you complete each assignment, click on 'Save and Confirm'.

Step 4. Attend the in-person course. The in-person course lasts 8 hours.
